Upgrade & Retrofit

This upgrade and retrofit project consisted of six reversible Francis Hydro Turbines that can each generate 312 MW of electricity for a total output of 1,872 MW. The reservoir is 110 feet (34 m) deep, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) long, and one mile (1.6 km) wide. It holds 27 billion US gallons (10 GI) of water.

TurbinePROs was chosen as the field service labor to upgrade and retrofit all six of the plants’ turbines - a project that spans six years. The upgrade extends the plants’ life by at least forty years and improved the generating capacity from 1,872 MW to 2,172 MW, a 15 percent increase. The plant will produce enough power for a community of 1.65 million (a quarter million increase).

Multiple craft labor was provided by TurbinePROs including millwrights, carpenters, laborers, boilermakers, painters, pipefitters, operating engineers, and electricians.
