Disassembly

TurbinePROs field services mobilized labor, tools, and a bilingual site supervisor for the disassembly and careful removal of three hydro turbines to be donated to a local college for millwright development.

Unique Solution to Customer’s Unexpected Issue: In need of 32 stop logs within a few weeks to avoid stoppage of the project, it was determined that other vendors were either unable to meet the schedule or unable to procure materials. TurbinePROs offered services outside the normal scope and utilized vendor relationships to procure a fabricator able to meet the timeline by going direct to the mill to cut logs to specified lengths and ultimately saving time, welding labor, and maintain project schedule.

Disassembly & Removal of 3 Horizontal Francis Quad Camelback Turbines: Protocol and special care was taken to protect the main shaft backing and piping, wicket gate operation shaft mechanism, wicket gate shaft packing gland, guide bearing, and unit bulkhead so that they could be reused. The exciter turbine and generator for the main units were removed and donated to a college for reuse in future millwright development training. Adaptability and flexibility were needed to work in the confined urban location adjacent to another powerhouse requiring multiple contractors to share the same work area.
